Expert Group Meeting on Protecting Victims of International Trafficking

The second Expert Group Meeting on Protecting Victims of International Trafficking will be held on 11-12 November 2004, in Seoul, Korea.

This is the second of three annual international expert group meetings on counter-trafficking to be co-hosted by the Korean Ministry of Gender Equality and the Ministry of Justice, in close cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Last year a Prevention of International Trafficking and Promotion of Public Awareness Campagn was held in September 2003, and led to a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences among 300 participants and served to raise public awareness generally.

This year, international experts will discuss innovative ideas to protect victims of international trafficking based on their extensive experiences. This year's meeting is timely in light of the two legislations that were recently passed in Korea on punishing and preventing sex trade and protecting the victims.
